In the 16th-century halls of Palazzo Ricci, just a short walk from Piazza Farnese, Dee D’O unveiled “Venus in Pyjamas”: a couture loungewear collection that takes silk, velvet, chiffon, and sequins far beyond the bedroom.

The evening, hosted at Ginevra Odescalchi’s Maison, brought together fashion, art, and Roman high society. With tunics, kaftans, palazzo pants, and shimmering trench coats, each look celebrated a femininity free from labels and predefined occasions. The event was also covered by Il Messaggero, which captured the atmosphere and the encounters, as well as by NewYorkerinRome.com , a digital guide and blog curated by artist Claudia Palmira.
Behind this vision is Rita Mannella, the brand’s co-founder and creative director. Her years as a diplomat, spent traveling through diverse places and cultures—from Japan to India, from Sri Lanka to New York—have shaped a cosmopolitan aesthetic that seamlessly blends Eastern influences with Italian craftsmanship.
The result is a wardrobe that doesn't ask for permission: it complements the body, follows its movements, and changes its identity along with the wearer.
"Venus in Pyjamas " blurs the line between night and day, intimacy and social life. A kimono can become a robe or a duster; a tunic can transform into a mini-dress; and a sparkling trench coat can replace the more predictable evening jacket.
This is reflected in several pieces that capture the spirit of the collection: the Silk Kimono, made of pure silk with oriental embroidery;the fluid and versatilesilk velvet Dress/Tunic; and the ultra-lightweight sequined trench coat, lined in silk.
Three different ways of saying the same thing: elegance knows no schedule. And, above all, it doesn't like rules.
